Finding our WHY

Hi, I’m Lynne, the founder and owner of Get Farmed! and lately I’ve been thinking about the WHY of Get Farmed!

Today’s beverage of choice is a good strong cup of Aussie tea, from an old fashioned tea pot, because what else would you have when thinking about your WHY?

When I started Get Farmed! three years ago I had a strong vision of what I wanted to achieve. I wanted to provide healthy, natural foods sourced locally with honesty, integrity and sustainability to support our Australian farmers.

I even went so far as to declare it on our packs. “We declare that each delicious mouthful of our products will impact positively on the future of the Australian farming community. We believe in the need to support our local agricultural sector – for the quality of the food it produces, for the meaningful employment it creates and for food security for future generations of Australians”

This is WHY we do what we do, WHY we stay up some nights working through alternatives for ingredients or packaging, WHY we meet our farmers and suppliers personally – to hear their story. We love what we do and wouldn’t have it any other way, It’s what gets us up in the morning and allows us to celebrate our wins when they happen.

This very clear WHY has kept the brand true and at times has provided its share of challenges. Sometimes it felt as though the easy route was to simply add the imported, dehydrated apple when I found out that the last supplier in Australia had closed down six months earlier due to lack of demand. Or to fry our chickpeas like everyone else because we could do it easier and cheaper.

But sometimes the challenges provide satisfaction in knowing that we are staying true to our WHY and working together with other Aussies to find a solution.

Australian made products are often slightly more expensive than imported products, not because we are greedy and want to make more money. It is often because of our WHY that we end up spending a little more for freight across our great big country, Or we work with smaller companies that don’t have the scale of larger factories.

We rely on our customers to support us, to support our farmers. So when you see an Australian grown and made product in the supermarket, stop and think about your WHY.

 Ginger Oat Muffins

These delicious healthy muffins go perfectly with a nice strong cup of Australian black tea. Ideal for thinking about your WHY!


  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil & extra for greasing pan

  • 2 egg whites

  • 3/4 cup plain greek yogurt

  • 1 tsp ginger powder

  • 3 tbsp water

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 cup plain flour

  • 1/2 cup Get Farmed Porridge Oats

  • 2 tsp baking powder


Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease 6 muffin tins with a little coconut oil and line with baking paper.  Mix together the brown sugar and coconut oil until crumbly. Add egg whites and beat until well combined. Continue to beat while adding yoghurt, water, vanilla and ginger powder. Combine flour, oats and baking powder and mix into wet mixture until just mixed through. Bake at 200°C for 15 minutes. Muffins are cooking when they feel firm to the touch in the middle.
